Weekend Wrap-up

  • Snow! – ’bout gol-danged time we got a real snow storm hereabouts. Even better, it stayed cold but not bitterly cold so the powdery snow actually stayed powdery. If winter sports out west are anything like my experience on the slopes this weekend I may be adding a new destination to my annual travels.

And, despite the fact that Liberty Mountain is basically a dump it has a pretty killer bar with relatively attractive wait staff and Guinness on tap. I can snowboard and drink Guinness and possibly – albeit rarely – fall down on account of both activities.

    Paradise.

  • Iggles! – ’bout gol-danged time we won an NFC championship hereabouts. I fully expected them to lose but uncharacteristically for a Philadelphia sports team they didn’t really try all that hard to collapse. Damned if they’re not going to Jacksonville! Damned if I don’t intend to be in Philly to watch the Superbowl and maybe light the mayor’s car on fire under cover of the expected riots – win or lose.

    Stupid mayor.

  • Superbowl! – enough of the cowboy-speak. The Steelers couldn’t pull it out and Cowher ought to hang himself for that bone-headed punt. The Patriots are going to the big game; again. A Turnpike Superbowl would have been grand but I was secretly praying for the Pats vs. the Eagles. The good Lord loves patterns and this gets me one coincidence closer to my dream of a Red Sox vs. Phillies World Series.
  • American Football! – Hurrah! The season is nearly over thus putting us all one week closer to the start of baseball season. Thank God.
