Woot!

Big news today! You can finally get a chance to get back at the RIAA and maybe make some little cash in the meantime. Looks like the big case against the recording companies for price-fixing is nearly finished and a settlement has been determined. By registering on this site you can become part of the class and, depending on how large the class grows, you might score from $5 to $20 bucks. Just be sure not to do something stupid like running out and buying a CD with it.

And in other news, looks like I’m going to march in the inaugural parade for our catastrophic new governor “Fast Eddie” Rendell. I was deeply torn as I hate the guy and most everything he stands for but the chance to march in a governor’s inagural parade doesn’t come along every day so I figured I ought to take advantage of the opportunity while I can. And so we add another nifty thing to my long list of experiences. I gotta say, as oddball as living history is, I’ve really gotten to see and do some pretty amazing things. Besides this upcoming parade I’ve marched twice in the St. Patrick’s Day parade in NYC, been part of the honor guard at Arlington National Cemetary on Decoration Day, been part of the honor guard at the Lincoln Memorial on Lincoln’s Birthday, marched in a parade in Harrisburg to support the introduction of a bill preserving PA Civil War monuments, escorted the last remaining widow of a Federal soldier at a funeral for what were thought to be remains of a Civil War soldier, etc Hell, the list goes on and on and that’s only the really nifty things I’ve done, I haven’t even mentioned the places I’ve visited on the way to, during or on the way back from gigs all over the east.

As pitiful and small as my life sometimes seems, when I stop and think about the places I’ve been and the things I’ve done – not only through my hobby but also through travelling with the family, etc – I’m kind of amazed. I surely ain’t the most urbane fellow but I’ve been around the block a couple of times. Miserable thought at the beginning of yet another day of work…can’t do anything fun for 8 more hours. Bummer.
