What a day! Here I sit, sated on turkey with all the trimmings and joyously reading article after article on Trent Lott’s resignation as Senate Majority Leader. Thank the good Lord who looks down from above. I am reminded of Martin Luther King’s speech, “Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”
I dunno, what brought Lott down? I reckon he was going to fight until people started comparing him to Bill Clinton – willing to sacrifice the party and the country for his own personal power and prestige. One should hope that’d be enough to shame any man. And people still doubt the everlasting harm Clinton has caused this country. Twits.
So, that’s the end of that chapter. Now we can move ahead. Now if only we could show the Christmas spirit with some fireworks over Baghdad, we might just have something. Again, my new favorite holiday quote, “Peace on Earth to men of goodwill. All others stand by.” Hot diggity damn, 2003 is going to be a hot time in the old town tonight.
