Wow, I was already going to comment a bit on race after reading this article yesterday and lo and behold, what do I find but a snippet on Ars Technica with the results of a study demonstrating that, genetically speaking, race does not exist.
Like I said, Wow.
I have long maintained that when we talk about race we’re actually discussing culture. There are black folks, mexicans, etc who work hard, learn the lingo and move themselves up in the world just as there are white folks who collect welfare and live in trailer parks with no ambition to improve their lot in life. Skin color/race therefore isn’t nearly the deciding factor…the culture is. I mean, look at the Canadians and French for chrissakes. They’re bloody useless….should all the rest of us white folks be dragged down just because they’re white too? Not at all, it isn’t the skin color that causes their problems, it’s their pissant culture.
Well, now science has finally caught up with my brilliant flash of insight and declared that, in fact, when looking at a person’s genes you can’t tell what color they are. Bingo! Now tell me that’s not a screaming argument for the abolishment of “racial” preferences and a great thumping good reason to treat all persons alike, regardless of skin color or culture. Assimilate or be damned. People are just people…come up to the happy medium and we’ll all be much happier.
