Are Guvnir

As much as I despise Fast Eddie Rendell I have promised repeatedly that if he takes positive steps I’ll be the first to congratulate him. Therefore, allow me to be among the first to congratulate him on taking a stand against the woeful mismanagement of the Pennsylvania Convention Center by refusing to release state funds to help pay for the maintenance/expansion of same. So far, the convention center project has been a typical Philly politics, graft and union boondoggle. So bad, that it’s commented that no organization has rescheduled a convention there after dealing with the foolishness once. Hurrah for taking a stand against “business as usual.”

Now we get to wait and see what the budget brings. I had a thought this morning on the way over. How odd is it that just as I receive the first Federal income tax refund in my full-time working life – with the potential for even more in the years to come – that my refund is likely to be sent directly to the Commonwealth? I suppose cynics would call that Federalism. I call it wicked waste.

Blatherscythe yesterday, boondoggle today. Your command of silly near-non-words is astounding.

    PS Is boondoggle an onomatopoeia?

Re: boondoggle – I don’t think it’s an onomatopoeia because it’s not really a verb – at least not in the way I used it. Blatherscythe, on the other hand, is very much that “o” word. Just listen to a Congressional debate sometime.

Boondoggle is in the dictionary though. Blatherscythe is not, but it’s a damn fine word all the same.
